Athens in short;
Apart from hot tv-show presenters Athens was split experience. My five star hotel was nice of course. The area surrounding it was not. In fact it was really rough. Hence, I went three nights straight across the street to the very local restaurant to dine. Apparently they are not so used to tipping since I was given free desserts the two last days after giving a few euros extra the first night. Not a very slimming effect on the belly this trip. At all.
As I had the Akropolis view from my room I had to go see it of course. The surrounding area, Plaka, was quite nice and the Akropolis was HUGE. Apart from that I was not particularly impressed with Athens. Especially since a sniper pidgeon managed to shit all over my on my way to the fair. The bastard managed to hit my suit, shirt AND my tie. Impressive really.
Very nice to return to London just after the G20 riots had ended and al the big dogs had left for home. My boss almost put Builders on fire after a napkin incident. Yours truly saved his fortress with a handy effort and a pint of Heineken. Always good to have a pint at hand!
Saturday Frenty and I went to Craven Cottage to see Pool play away against Fulham. Fantastic first half from Pool resulted in zero goals and a frustrated scouse crowd that gathered around the Carlsberg bar at half time. Second half was an even more frustrating 45 minutes. A grown man gave me a hug in desperate look for comfort. The title was slipping through our hands. At overtime Youssi B finally scored and the scouse crowd broke into hysteria! Now you're gonna believe us - WE'RE GONNA WIN THE LEAGUE! was chanted for easily 20 minutes after we won the game. Check the link; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eY2XomcXg6A
Yours truly not on this video, was further down towards the pitch celebrating :-) Absolutely fantastic, one of my top football experiences ever! My voice today sounds like a teenager struggeling with puberty once again :-)
The fine win was of course celebrated with boozing at the ELK in Fulham where Frenty and I made some new aquaintances. Unlike Pool we did not, however, manage to score on overtime. A for effort though.
The magnificent sport weekend continued today with Man U v Villa. To my regrets and Frenty's everlasting joy, United turned 1-2 into 3-2 and all of Merseyside must have been crying blood. Feck...
A close to perfect weekend, now time to log off and watch 'Match of the day'. Next week should be a nice one with Bank holidays and Easter coming which seems really promising.
Cheers,
P
