Small step for mankind, huge leap for the IT-retarded

After a rather hectic week so far here comes the sum-up;

The weekend was greatly inaugurated by work switching name and part of the rebranding of course includes getting pissed. We did that very successfully Friday. For an educational institute/company I must say people hold their liqour rather well:-)

Not surprisingly I woke up with a hangover Saturday. I have not managed to sleep properly here and it is terribly annoing having to be awake through the devastating pain and self pity that comes to visit after a night out. More surprising, and definitely more pleasant, was an unannounced weekend visit from France:-) As we do not name names here we can call her E. Drinks and dinners with E and Mr Bogos plus very limited London sightseeing outside of my flat made a great weekend!

For those who do not believe in miracles, take this; I now have a Blackberry. From an Ericsson T610 of 2001 to a Blackberry of 2009. Small step for mankind, huge leap for the IT-retarded.

Long hours at the office this week in order to be free to go to Gothenburg Friday! Wedding bells are ringing for an old friend and the booze crew from the shady past at Uni are of course flying in from all over the world!

Finishing up on my travel plan for this spring you should, among events, be getting reports from karaoke places in Hong Kong as well as beerhalls in Germany, accompanied by random brutal drinking stories from Paris and London :-)

All the best folks, now I will fly off on my spaceship Blackberry to the closest bar that serve burgers and a bloody PINT!

Cheers,

P

You'll never walk home alone

Back at the Builders Arms again after three intense days at work. Fairs, systems, inaugurations tequilas, dinners phew.... Hobbling home knackered the other day a busker played the Fernando Torres song on his flute in the Metro, there is light at the end of the tunnel :-)

Managed to get a bank account after 1 h with the worst typer in the UK, bloody hell she was SLOW. Now only 10 administrative hellholes remain before I am fully integrated in the London life.

Tomorrow big kickoff with work, from 6 pm the party is on and from what I have seen so far it is not likely to be a sweet Saturday morning... Kind as they are the supplied coronas during the opening speeches today though :-) The bright light today was meeting up with my colleague Anna who moved here a while ago. We had a romantic dinner consisting of fish and chips at builders. Classy.

Annoying draw against the blue sheit Monday but a new chance in the FA cup Sunday.

Cheers,

P

The Builders Arms

Two days now in London and here is a brief update of the parts I remember;

I arrived at Heathrow on time, not exactly in great shape due to a grand farewell booze evening with the usual suspects, and went to meet the landlord. Funny chap it was, a real original with a wicked hat and a weird friend to accompany him. Luckily for me I was accompanied by a friend as well, we can call him Frenty Bogos. We sorted the business with the odd partners and got started drinking.

The flat is conveniently located 50 metres from 'the Builders Arms', a great pub where I will likely spend countless hours as well as pounds. From that pub to the next it is approximately 150 metres. By the time we left the second pub we were well hammered and continued on to Sophie's, bar X, Y, Z and 42 ( I have no idea what they are called), finishing with a full English at 01.00 before stumbling home in the pouring rain.

Having dealt with the first London drunkenness, Frenty and I had no problems wandering around the bars of Chelsea today whilst getting things for the flat. The circle was closed at the Builders Arms with a nice set of Heineken.

Impressions so far; fab neighbourhood, surprisingly good weather and great bars! Very promising.

On tomorrow's plate is the first day at work and the Merseyside derby. Fingers crossed for both!

Over and out,

P

London Calling...

Welcome to this blog!

One week to arrival now. It is getting real, and really exciting!

Still shivering from last nights partly memorable farewell party I am counting down the days to the take-off. Upon arrival a city full of pints, burgers and endless possibilities promises a very health-hazardous and hilarious future.

Working for a multinational I'll be able to report from several interesting cities at times, and I am looking forward to it. I'll be sure to alert you where I will go so that you can recommend me activities I must not miss!

Tune in next week,

P
